Thoughts on New Ways to Use Concrete
I've been thinking a lot lately about new and different ways to use concrete. Since it is such a strong and durable material, there has got to be more and more things to make or build with it. I feel like I've been so immersed in the typical concrete like, driveways, patios, sidewalks, and basement or garage floors, that I haven't taken the time to think outside the box and come up with new ideas for ways to use this versatile substance.
Counter tops are the very first thing that comes to mind, even though this idea has been in place for a little while, it is perhaps something that I would want to learn more about. So let's take a look. First of all, concrete counter tops are so customizable, and very much an original choice for making your kitchen stand apart. It's durable, heavy, and very modern. It can be dyed and polished to your liking, and go with exactly the kind of kitchen you imagined in your dreams. You can make it look like granite, marble, or wood. You can also, add in things like glass or stone, to really give it a fun twist. And to get something so strong and look so great, at such a great cost, seems to me like a great choice for counter tops. But in looking into this idea, there are also a few negative sides to the choice. The main problem being how easy it is to stain concrete. So, if it is not properly sealed or sometimes even if it is sealed, there can be certain substances that will penetrate and stain the porous concrete, and most likely never be able to be cleaned. And wouldn't that just suck, to have a nice, heavy, awesome looking counter top with an ugly grease stain right in the middle of it. But that isn't my only new idea on ways to use concrete, not at all.
